129 Pacific (corner of Pacific & Caledonia), supposedly built by
a sea captain and called by all "The:Captain's House." It i• of
sin-le redwood aiding, .with no insulation, yet keeps "warm as
t6ast." The nails were made'-by hand and are square. Owned at
one time bv Dr. & Mrs. Fritz Winblad, .San Francisco.

(Mrs. George) Langford for many years.
429 Ocean View Blvd.- built by'J. P. Pryor, Manager of Pacific
Improvement.Co. Pryor was mayor of P,clfic Grove and later was
in real e state and insurance in Monte rey.

Tennant, who also bullt the Tennant Heme for Retired Episcopalian
Ministers, now Canterbury Woods Retirement Home.
104 Fifth, built by Mr. Pudan, officer--or executive for the
Pullman Car Co.
107 Twelfth - Owned by Bob Mitchell, first postmaster of Pacific
Grove. First P. O. was on Grand Ave. Mr. Mitchell wait called
"Whistling Bob" because he was forever whistling.
138 Fountain, formerly owned by A. J. Steiner, who was in the
grocery business.
480 Lighthouse - no knowledge of owner or builder. "Mother"
Carrington, former music teacher, live# here for years and had
large-classes of children and adults. Mrs. Z.G.H. had her first m
music lessons from her.
721 Lighthouse, former Methodist parconage, then owned by the
Francis Currys, now law offices. The first Methodist parsonage
was located behind the original Methodist church on Lighthouse -Aves
230 Sixth, built by -Dr. 0. S. Trimmer, who was the principal doctor
for the entire Peninsula lor years and once served as one of the
first mayo root pacific Grove. Wasrelated to the Tuttle family
(Mrs. Trimmer probably was Mr. Tuttle's sister).
1081 Seventeen Mile Drive, own ed by William Lafortes. Builu by a man
from England, Dr. Cowan. White fence surrounded the entire property
and the beautifully-landscaped garden. There was a barn for thoro-
bred horses. Dr. Cowan returned to England and sold the property to
an Englishman named Brandt. After B. purchased it he discovered there
was a second mortgage on the property. He said he wouldn' t liVer-in
a country which allowed a second mortgage and returned to .Engladd.
