Inside this issue:
I‟m in the process of
planning a research trip
to “Sand Point”. For those
who don‟t know about
Sand Point, it is the local
National Association of
Records and Archives. It
is located on Sand Point.
In preparing for this
visit, I decided which day
I will be there. Second I
pinpointed what informa-
tion I was going to search
for. I checked out their
holdings via their web-
site. After reading them, I
was unsure if they had
actual records or at least
micro-fiche of what I
wanted to obtain.
I emailed my questions
of—will they indeed be
open on my chosen date of
visiting and their stated
hours. Second, did they
have what I was looking
for, since I was still un-
clear after reading their
collections material. I
also wanted to know if
they would and/or could
accommodate a laptop
computer, and digital
camera. I also asked if
there would be anything
further that I would need
to bring or know for mak-
ing the most of my visit.
I received a response
within a couple of days.
They do not have the par-
ticular documents that I
wish to see, but they in-
formed me of how to find
them. I was assured that
I could use my laptop and
„non-flashing‟ digital cam-
era in the research sec-
tion. I was also reminded
to bring photo ID, and a
follow up request to
please let them know
what they were to pull as
they do not pull records
on the day of my visit.
By doing all this prep
work, I will be making
the most of my visit, and
hopefully finding new
information on my family.
This is a great way to
prepare and make the
most of your visit. If you
do not have access to
email, or the establish-
ment you wish to visit
doesn‟t. You will want to
leave enough time to
write, and receive a re-
sponse, or call during
their hours of business.
You can always go to the
local library and ask the
reference librarian for
assistance in finding the
mailing address and
phone numbers you need.

Forest Festival—June 5th
Remember to help with
the booth on June 5th. We
have a two hour slot from
1:30—3:30 open. If you
haven't already signed up
for a time, or can maybe
stay a little longer, and
come a little earlier to help
cover this time please let
me know.
I haven’t heard anything
from Heritage Quest Re-
search Library, so at this
time they will not be shar-
ing our booth with us.
I hope that this will be a
very successful endeavor.
We have the possibility to
have a booth at the Fair in
July and another at Oyster-
fest the first full weekend
of October.
Be thinking how you can
assist with these upcoming
events.
