454 Cloudview Drive Watsonville, CA 95076 February 17, 1988 Mr. Adam Weiland, Pres. The Heritage Society of Pacific Grove P.O.Box 1007 Pacific Grove, CA 93950 Dear Adam, Thank you for the information regarding the Nethercott / Rowland fami- lies of Pacific Grove in the 1900s. Your information filled„ in, and/ or reminded me of things I had known, but needed a little nudge to recall. The old Nethercott home at 212 10th Street stood until about 1959 or 1960 I believe. After my Grandfather Nethercott died, the ownership passed to my Aunt Anne Nethercott. She died in the late fifties, and she either deeded it to my Aunt Caroline, or Aunt Emma. Caroline died before Emma, and Emma was the last one to own the place. She sub- sequently sold the property, and the new owners took down the old house, and I believe have a duplex on the property now. The pages from the old city directory were interesting. It showed William Nethercott (my uncle) living at 209 Monterey St. Evidentally he lived with my Great Grandfather after the rest of the Nethercotts moved for a short time to Salinas. (my father went to High School in Salinas) I had forgotten my uncle was a plumber, in WWI he was in the Motor Corps, as both driver and mechanic, and after WWI worked on cars and trucks, equally with pipes and faucets I guess. Also at 209 at that time, was Miss Clara Rowland. She later married Samuel Weymouth from Edenvale. Their son, Lowell, while eight years my senior, sort of held "big brother" status to my only child status. The tax rolls gave me some unexpected information too. Wh en th e family returned to Sacramento (prior to WWI) they lived on 38th Street. We lived -(later onk), around the corner on 3rd Avenue. Up to getting your information I have been wishing I could remember the address of the old place -- and there it was -- listed. with Anne Nethercottl , OCR Text: 454 Cloudview Drive Watsonville, CA 95076 February 17, 1988 Mr. Adam Weiland, Pres.
