The Heritage Society of Pacific Grove P. O. Box 1007 Pacific Grove, CA 93950 Date: December 2, 1996 TO: Jody Armstrong Stebben 323 Eardley Pacific Grove, CA 93950 RE: Address: 323 Eardlev Subdivision: 4th Addition Block: 151 Lot: 8 Our maps and tax records show that the above structure was first assessed in: 1907 This means the structure was actually built early in that year, or late in the previous year. The first owner of this structure, according to the County's assessor's records was: C. W. Dav Other Comments: Mr. Day, a contractor, took out a mortgage on January 28, 1907 with the Bank of Pacific Grove to build this house. Apparently he was unable to make all the payments because the bank took ownership of the house in 1914 and owned it through 1922. This was unusual for this bank as this was the only house they owned in their name during this time period. Ella Thomas owned quite a few homes during this period. I'm sure she used this house as a rental unit. Christian Amolsch lived here in 1925-26 and Edward Amolsch owned the house next door at 325 Eardley. Plague Status: ® Structure is eligible for a plague and one will be made up for you at no charge. You will be notified when plague is ready. It could take 4 to 6 months. Structure is not eligible for a plague at this time because: Enclosed please find: Tax assessor information through 1926. Sanborn map from 1926. City directory from 1907.
