Dozens of residents showed up to a public meeting held at the Community Center on Tuesday, Sept. 15 to hear what the city’s plans are for the downtown area. Brew Fest brings fall fun to help Food Bank pam stevens As with most Fire Districts around the nation, Lake Ste- vens Fire receives a number of 911 calls from many of the same people. In an effort to serve the resi- dents of Lake Stevens, they have teamed up with Fire District 7 out of Mill Creek/Maltby/Clear- view and Fire District 3 out of Monroe to help those people who seem to have to call 911 on a regular basis. Scott Koch has been hired as the Community Resource Para- medic for the three districts. Koch, who has been a paramed- ic with District 7 since 1990, just started his new job and is look- ing forward to serving all three communities in a new way. “Really our main goal comes in three parts,” Koch explained. “We want to improve the experi- ence with citizens who use 911, improve their health and save taxpayers money.” Paramedics are currently be- ing trained to watch for those Community Resource Paramedic introduced into Lake Stevens Lake Stevens Fire hopes to help those in high need who Koch may be able to help. Those who they seem to be visit- ing on a regular basis who may just need other types of help but don’t know where to find it. “Having someone like myself on the streets and out in the homes for 15 minutes can be very helpful,” Koch said, “My hope is that we can connect these people with the services they need. If we can connect them with resources that can meet their needs we can im- prove their health.” One example of someone who could benefit from Koch’s help might be a person who seems to fall often and calls 911 for help. They may be referred to Koch by another Paramedic who has helped them before. Koch can go into their home, meet with their family and help them figure out what might be going on. Maybe their medica- tions are making them dizzy, they may have objects in their way and they are tripping over them because they can’t bend The first ever Carleton Farms Brew Fest brought beer lovers to the farm for a fall festival of lo- cal brews all in an effort to raise money for the Lake Stevens Food Bank. Brew Fest was held last week- end, September 26-27 from noon to 5.p.m. at the festive farm on Sunnyside Ave. Guests were offered several fun options for the fall grand opening weekend including pumpkin fun runs, a corn maze, pumpkin cannon, kids bucket train, and the ever popular pumpkin patch, Brew Fest added to the festivi- ties incorporating the fall tradi- tion of beer and beer gardens.  “Brew Fest presented beer and spirits tasting on Saturday and beer and wine tasting on Sun- day,” explained Tracy Vincent, Brew Fest organizer. , OCR Text: no pot smell Why must some marijuana smokers fill the air with the smell of pot?
