The purpose of the social was to raise funds for the orphans home which is maintained by the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The form of invitation sent out read as follows; A small stocking was sent with the invitation in which to place the coin. -- A large stocking was' passed a- round during the evening, and into this ali the small stockings- were placed. The amount collected for the orphans in this manner was about $22.00. Pumpkins in sections were passed around during the evening and the one who placed the pumpkin together properly was awarded a prize. Dr. P. G. Denninger was the winner. Games music etc. served. to pass the time most pleasantly, after which pumpkin pie and cofree were served.
