The following notice was in the July 12, 1927 Monterey Herald newspaper:
"A court of five three-room apartments and garages is being built at the junction of
Eardley avenue and Ninth street, Pacific Grove, for E.E. Scholes, 362 Lighthouse avenue.
H.R. O'Brien is the contractor. Each apartment will contain a living room, a kitchen with
a breakfast nook and a bath room. Modem built-in beds will be a feature. The walls will
be of "bubblestone" and the roofs will be of tar and gravel. The land on which the court is
situated is somewhat triangular in shape, making a unique arrangement necessary. The-
estimated cost of the court has been given as $10,000. Workmen at present are busy
laying the foundations. Work on the construction is expected to proceed rapidly."
