Skokomish diver dies of embolism By ARLA SHEPHARD Skokomish Tribal member Patrick LaClair died of an air embolism last Friday while scu- ba diving in Hood Canal, Kitsap County officials confirm. LaClair, 54, had been har- vesting geoduck when he came up for air and collapsed, said Kitsap County Coroner Greg Sandstrom. “The Suquamish Police are investigating what happened, as well as the Coast Guard,” he said. “It is considered an acci- dental death.” LaClair was a life-long resi- dent and member of the Skokom- ish nation. He served as a tribal police officer for several years, worked within the tribe’s fisher- ies department and also served for eight years on the Skokomish Tribal Council.
