Carl Rains, 94, a resident of She-
lton for 66 years, died Tuesday,
Oct. 25, 1994, in his residence on
Hammersley Inlet, Shelton.
He was born June 20, 1900, in
Gallup, New Mexico, to John We
sley and Della (Ellis) Rains.
He married Gertrude L. Husk on
Feb. 23, 1921, in Tacoma.
Mr. Rains joined the U.S. Army
in 1916 and served with the 55th
Artillery in France and Germany
during World War II and the Anny
of Occupation afterwards.
He was employed by ITT Rayon-
ier when moving to Shelton in 1928.
Mr. Rains was an avid fisher-
man, hunter and loved the out-
doors.
Surviving Mr. Rains besides his
wife of 73 years, Gertrude Rains, of
Shelton, are two sons, Robert S.
Rains, Sequim, and Frank V. Rains,
Shelton; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation is 9 a.m.—noon Friday,
Oct. 28, in McComb Funeral Home,
Shelton. A graveside service will
begin at 2 pm. Friday, Oct. 28, in
Shelton Memorial Park Garden
Chapel. The Rev. Richard Meyers
will oficiate.
