NOTS Instruction 5820.4 ex-
plains that the course will con-
sist of six hours of instruction
and will be presented in three
two-hour sessions from 7 to 9
p.m. on Monday, Wednesday
and Friday of the first full
week of each month.
The two hours of instruction
at the concluding session on,.
Friday will be followed by a
30·minute written examination
which all attendees will be reo
quired to take.
The first course will begin on
Monday, June 1. All sessions
will be held at the Safety Of-
fice, Building 465.
'Not Mandatory'
"Attendance at the course
will not be mandatory in any
case," the Instruction says, "At-
tendees will be determined in
the Traffic Court where, follow-
ing conviction of a moving vio-
lation as distinguished from a
parking violation. the offender
will be given a choice of imposi-
tion of a period of suspension
of his Station drhing privilege
or the voluntary attendance at,
and successful completion of,
the next convening Driver Train-
ing Course.
( "Also, it may be anticipated
that in some cases a suspension
of Station driving privileges
would be appropriate even
though the offender voluntarily
agreed to attend the course;
in this type case, the offender's
successful completion of t h e
Remedial Course would simply
lessen the period of suspension
of the Station driving privilege.
Absence and Tardine"
The Instruction also points
out that "a failure to attend any
session by a person m luntarily
agreeing to attend will lead to
that individual being cited back

The 38-year-old industialist,
who at one time headed 14 dif-
ferent business ventures, flew
225,000 miles, mostly in his
own plane, during his two years
as unsalaried president of the
Navy League.
