How we have grown !
In the Fall of 1941, the Gould
clan gathered at Long Beach to
observe the Golden Wedding An-
niversary of Charles Philip Gould,
Sr., and May Talkington Gould. At
that time "The Golden Jubilee"
made its appearance and included
much information concerning the
family.
It seemed a good idea to try to
bring things up to date in this
issue, but that has proved to be
more of a job than the editor bar-
gained for. However, the following
is at least a partial list of the
goings-on since the last celebra-
tion:
Rosamond Robinson has married
John E. Jaqua (Feb. 27, 1943) and
added to the clan have been James
Boyden Jaqua, Anne Jaqua and
Jon Victor Jaqua.
Franklin Willard Robinson, Jr.,
married Joan Larrimer (Mar. 4,
1943) and the results thus far are:
Gail Robinson and Franklin Wil-
lard Robinson III.
Meanwhile, Phil and Gen Gould
have provided Suzanne with two
sisters and a brother: Patricia,
Denise and Charles Philip Gould
III.
Just look at those Heringers !
Donald and Agnes have provided
Carol Elizabeth with two sisters
and a brother: Janice, Michael
John and Susan Genette.
Bud (John, Jr.) and Marjorie,
married Jan. 18 1942. Present re-
sults: Hope Anne and John F.
Heringer III.
George and Barbara, married
Oct. 24, 1948. No consequences
thus far. ( Let's not rush them !)
Those Holmes girls are keeping
pace:
Roxana C. Holmes, who married
Herbert B. Blanks on May 26,
1937, has provided George Anth-
ony. Blanks with two brothers:
Herbert Elliott and Donald Allen
Blanks.
Ruth Louise Holmes married
William Andrew McCampbell, Jr.,
Feb. 2, 1944. See what's happened:
William Andrew McCampbell III,
Frank Allen McCampbell and Tho-
mas Holmes McCampbell!
These girls already have done a

way: Robin, 13, Pamela, 11, Wil-

pursuit of love.

uous, deliberated for a modest
Emilie Louisa Cleveland became
Mrs. William Johnson Gould in a
quiet ceremony performed in San
Miguel, California, Sept. 6,1899,
by the Rev. S. De Forest Belt.
The bride was attired in white
organdy and was attended by her
sister, Inez. The groom's brother,
George S. Gould, Jr., was best
man. The only other person pres-
ent was the bride's mother, Mrs.
Louisa Cleveland.
Following the ceremony, the
newlyweds left on the Southern
Pacific for a honeymoon in San
Jose. The bride wore a tan (now
beige) going-away suit and a
white hat adorned with apple bios-
soms. ,
Before the end of the month the
bride and groom took a trip to
Southern California, the groom us-
ing a summons to appear as a wit-
ness in a Los Angeles lawsuit as
the means of financing a second
honeymoon. They made the voyage
aboard the steamship "Santa Ro-
sa."
The groom was the proprietor
of the Occidental Hotel of San
Miguel and the bride a typogra-
pher for the San Miguel Inland
Messenger.
length of time before becoming
Mrs. Al Nailen.
The Gould-Cleveland combina-
tion finds the arrival of Christine
Ruth Gould since the Long Beach
affair. She enters kindergarten
next month. Marian enters the se-
venth grade and Thelma becomes
a freshman at San Jose State Col-
lege. Apparently the present
Cleveland tradition of obtaining
sons only by marriage applies here
as well.
Since Long Beach, there have
been four deaths in the Gould fam-
ily and none in the Cleveland
ranks:
George Sylvanus Gould, Jr., Jan.
25, 1942; May T. Gould, May 27,
1942; Kate Louisa Bullier Jan. 31,
1944; Charles Philip Gould, Sr.,
May 14, 1948.
If there have been omissions, the
editor extends his apologies. If
there are corrections, they will be
received gladly. Perhaps the fam-
ily statistics can be made complete
and faultless if and when another
issue of the publication comes off
the press.
