Dorothy Joan Yost, a 20-year
Shelton resident, died of a heart
attack Thursday, February 1, at
Fir Lane Health and Rehabilita-
tion Center. She was 79.
She was born August 11, 1921
in Findlay, Ohio, to Norman and
Dorothy (Brearly) Waaland.
She was a homemaker and a
member of Saint Edward’s Ca-
tholic Church in Shelton. In her
later years, her main interest was
her grandchildren, whom she
loved, her survivors said.
She was preceded in death by a
son, Billy Yost; a sister, Nora
Waaland; and a brother, Peter
Waaland,
Survivors include her son,
Michael Yost of Shelton; brothers
Cedrick Waaland of Findlay,
Ohio, and James Waaland of To-
ledo, Ohio; a sister, Shirley Tan-
trilli of New Jersey; grandchil-
dren James Yost of Findlay, Ohio,
Jade Yost of Shelton and Joshua
Yost of Fort Benning, Georgia;
great—grandson Calvin James Yost
of Findlay, Ohio; close friend Ted
Strozyk of Shelton; and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial mass will be held
at noon Friday, February 9, at
Saint Edward’s Catholic Church
in Shelton.
