Those who heard Elmarie
Dyke's radio program last
Thursday morning noted her
dramatic association of the
thunderstorm with Bhe perform-
ance of city council in approv-
the liquor zoning ordinance.
As of this writing, there have
been rumors, as yet unsubsltan.
tiated, of a referendum petition
to put ithe ordinance on the bal-
lot in Apni[1' s election.
Whatever you,r feeling on the
matter, you can't deny that if
the folks who'd rather not have
liquor have someone on their
side who can make thunder and
lightning and RAIN, perhaps
we'd all better take good look
at #le signatures on that peti-
tion, if and when...?
Bill Schleifer's mother, who
had a ticket non-stop to 'Bampa,
had a funny thing happen over
New Orleans. Someone else
wanted to go to Havana, so they
all went. Bill says his mother
wasn't too discomfited by her
adventure.

citizen who lives here or own's
property and pays taxes must
face this question of the future.
Progress is more than a fresh
coat of paint. It is the imple-
mentation of new ideas; the
propensity to change for the
better. Tradition ean be an ef-
feetive guide iine, but to sur-
render to it completely is stag-
