IT NOW SEEMS THAT THE LARGE CANYON LUMBER CO TRACT OF TIMBER IN THE
TWIN LAKES REGION IS TO BE LOGGED BY USE OF MOTOR TRUCKS WITH A HEAD
CAMP ON ONE OF THE TWIN LAKES. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE TIMBER WILL
BE TAKEN OUT OVER A ROAD NOW BEING BUILT AND WHICH WILL HAVE IT’S
TERMINUS ON THE MOUTAIN LOOP HIWAY BETWEEN GRANITE FALLS AND CANYON
CREEK LODGE. THIS ROAD WILL FOLLOW THE OLD JOHNSON AND DEAN RAILROAD
GRADE FOR A CONSIDERABLE DISTANCE. ACTUAL LOGGING OPERATIONS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE STARTED THIS FALL, SOME 20 TRUCKS TO BE EMPLOYED.
THE AVAILABLE TIMBER IS ESTIMATED AT 400.000.000 BF ALL OLD GROWTH
FOREST. IT IS BELIEVED THAT ONE OBJECT OF STARTING OPERATIONS AT
THIS TIME IS TO SALVAGE THE LARGE AMOUNT OF TIMBER BLOWN DOWN IN THE
WIND STORM OF OCT. WHEN GREAT DAMAGE WAS DONE ON THE WEST
