Percy E. Zamzow, 71, a 54-year
resident of Union, died of leukemia
Monday, Dec. 30, 1996, at Capital
Medical Center, Olympia.
He was born Oct. 17, 1925, to
Elmer and Mable (Stout) Zamzow
in Sumas.
He graduated from Shelton’s
Irene S. Reed High School in 1945.
He married Alene R Orr on April
13, 1957, in Shelton,
Mr: Zamzow was in the Army
from 1950 to 1956.
He worked for Rayonier Pulp Mill
in Shelton two years before and a
year after his military service.
From 1958 to 1961, he worked at
Kimbel’s Automotive and then for
Tacoma City Light in Shelton from
1961 until his retirement in 1991.
Mr: Zamzow was a charter mem-
ber of the Shelton Elks for 25 years
and a member of the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers,
He was a jack-of—all-trades who
enjoyed cars, meml- and woodwork-
ing, beach combing and working in
his shop. His family remembers him
as “observant of everything!"
Mr. Zamzow is survived by his
wife, Alene, Union; two sons, Jay
and his wife, Teresa, San Diego, and
Kelly and his wife, Nancy, Bremer»
ton; a daughter, Lynne VanDuren
and her husband, Jerry, Arlington;
five grandchildren; three step-
grandchildren; an adopted grandr
child; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
A memorial service will begin at
11 am Saturday, Jan. 4, in United
Methodist Church. The Rev. Steve
Schroeder will officiate.
The family suggests memorial
donations to Puget Sound Blood
