mons on Saturday, April 23, to
show off their goods and ser-
vices to the Lake Stevens Com-
munity.
The Greater Lake Stevens
Chamber of Commerce hosted
the event to help their mem-
bers showcase their business
and to let locals know all of
the unique and necessary busi-
nesses the Lake Stevens com-
munity has to offer them.
Republic Services’ Bobby
Brown feels like the Expo
helped their customers realize
all of the possibilities when it
comes to recycling.
“We’re here to make people
aware of how and what to re-
cycle,” Brown said. “Today you
can recycle 80 percent of what
you throw away. Most people
don’t realize that.”
The Lake Stevens Food Bank,
along with other local non-
profits, set-up booths to help
bring awareness to their com-
munity projects.
Chamber’s Think Local Expo helps community support business
The Food Bank is trying to
raise money for a new facility
which will help them be able to
help more people. They were
selling $5 raffle tickets for the
opportunity to win a Russell
Wilson autographed football.
Lake Stevens Chamber Pres-
ident Doug Warren explains
the importance of supporting
local business, especially in a
community like ours.
“The community needs to
know about business in their
community. We are a bedroom
community, which means that
most of us leave town to go to
work each day,” Warren said.
“By thinking local and shop-
ping local we put more money
back into our community.”
Warren also highlights the
importance of supporting lo-
cal businesses who hire local
employees and all that they
contributed to our communi-
ty through donations to local
events.
“We have so many business-
es that put money back into
Lake Stevens. Businesses like
Ace Hardware for example,
