Hilary A. Savage
Hilary A. Savage, a Mason
County resident for 74 years, died
of Hodgkin‘s disease Monday,
June 15, at the Lakewood Health-
care Center nursing home. She
was 81.
She was born January 29,
1917, in Lansing, Michigan, to
William and Everetta (Cass)
Baldwin. She attended school in
Belfair and graduated from high
school in 1933.
She married Virdon P. Savage
on November 24, 1941. He pre-
ceded her in death in 1986.
She was a housekeeper at Fir
Lane Terrace Convalescent Cen-
ter, and formerly was a field boss
at Eberhart Blueberry Farm.
She enjoyed dancing with her
husband in her younger years,
playing cards with friends and
relatives, crossword puzzles,
crocheting and gardening. A kind
and gentle woman, she also en-
joyed raising her children, grand-
children and any other child that
needed raising, her family said. ‘
Mrs. Savage was preceded‘ in
death by daughter Alice Lorraine
Savage and Alice’s son Vincent 1n
1967; and by great-granddaugh-
ter Pamela Jean in 1983.
She was the last surviving s1»
bling of her immediate family of
one sister and three brothers.
She is survived by sons Dewain
Savage of Seattle, Russell Savage
of Shelton and Herbert Savage of
Shelton; daughters Patricia Can»
terbury and her husband Richard
of Olympia, Virdonna Savage of
Tacoma and Christena Simpson
and her husband Terrance of
Shelton; and foster daughter Lyn-
da Hutson of Lacey,
Also surviving are grandchil-
dren Martin Downing of Shelton,
David Downing and his wife Jes-
sica of Espasto, California, Dena
Canterbury of Olympia, Tawnya
Savage of Seattle, Shannon Mc-
Mahand of Tacoma, Sean Savage
of Tacoma, Sheridan Teal and her
husband Tyler of Tacoma, Cherie
Lafayette of Lacey, Dustin Hut-
son of Shelton, Meagan Hutson of
Lacey, Jeanette Simpson Esham
and her husband Aaron of Brem—

A graveside service officiated
by the Reverend Donald Maddux
will be held at 2 pm. Friday,
June 19, at Shelton Memorial
Park. A gathering of friends and
family will follow at the Timbers
Restaurant banquet room in Shel-
ton.
