Enter junior Tre Long, Bar- due’s backup of last season, but who had just returned to the lineup after five weeks of ill- ness and who had not taken a game snap all season.   Show- ing little or no rust from that inactivity, Long stepped in to guide Lake to an easy 51-0 blowout of the Falcons, North Puget Sound League’s number four entry into the Playoffs. Long’s athleticism and foot speed were evident from his Lake beats Kentlake 51-0 in playoff opener very first rollout (as opposed to Bardue’s mainly pocket game), an eight-yard comple- tion to Anthony Hutchinson.  Given time by Lake’s outstand- ing offensive line, Long com- pleted 11 of his first 12 passes (12 of 16 overall for 166 yards and three touchdowns in the first half) as Lake blew out to a surprisingly easy 31-0 halftime lead. Lake took a 7-0 lead at 2:58 of the second quarter, on its second possession, a 52-yard, five-play drive which saw Long complete three straight passes including a 41-yard TD to a wide-open Ian Hanson.  Brock Widmann converted the first of his six PAT kicks. Lake rolled from there, scor- ing 24 second quarter points and outgaining Kentlake by 257 yards to FIVE in the first half.  (Lake’s yardage margin in the second half was 256 to 46, despite a running clock and heavy Viking substitutions).  Lake had a 26-7 advantage in first downs for the game, Kentlake’s only first down in Ghosts, goblins, super he- roes and more could be seen walking around downtown Lake Stevens last week at the city’s annual Downtown Safe Halloween celebration. This year’s much anticipated event was sponsored by local businesses and community members and went off without a hitch. Dozens of booths offered prizes and treats after the Hal- loween Costume Parade. Laana Larson was instru- mental in putting the event to- gether for the community. “We had an amazing turnout for the Halloween Festival.  So many fun booths for the com- munity to explore, as well as area merchants trick-or-treat- ing, two Indoor carnivals,, a haunted house and truck and Halloween in Lake Stevens enjoyed by community treat,” Larson said. “The Cos- tume Walk had some really fun raffle prizes for the par- ticipants and there were lots of free goodies throughout the festival.  What a fun way for families to enjoy Halloween in a safe environment.  We are so thankful for the tremendous support of our Lake Stevens community.” Lake Stevens Fire and Lake Stevens Police were an inte- gral part of the festivities and helped promote safety on this spooky night. “The LSPD was very happy to be part of bringing a safe event to Lake Stevens” “the coming together of so many organizations and individu- als to put on a safe Halloween event for Lake Stevens kids was tremendous, Lake Stevens Police Chief John Dyer said.
