SIGNIFICANCE

This house was first owned by Miss Margaret Tennant, remembered as a de-
voted citizen of Pacific Grove and St. Mary's-by-the-Sec. She was
responsible for the building of the "John Tennant Memorial Home.
In 1886, Miss Tennant was one of the women who founded the St. Mary's
Guild, with the intent of building what was to be the first church in
pacific Grove, finished in July, 1897. When the church was in nedd of
money in f uture years she fm made several gifts.
