George Halsfigiura
George Mitsuo Nakamura, a
resident of Union since 1991, died
Monday, November 30, at his
home. He was 80.
He was born April 9, 1917, in
Centerville, California, to Misaku
Nakamura and Fudeno Tanaka.
He married Rachel L.
(Ghramm) Knox on May 27, 1968,
in Reno, Nevada,
Mr. Nakamura started his ca-
reer as a mechanic and worked
himself up to service manager in
an automotive business. He spent
24 years in Portland, Oregon, be-
fore moving to Union in 1991.
He is survived by his wife,
Rachel Nakamura of Union; son
James Nakamura of Union City,
California; daughters Susie Na-
kamura of El Cerrito, California,
and Gayle Mifune of Albany, Cali-
fornia; stepdaughters Sharon
Cunningham of Edmond, Oklaho-
ma, and Nola Diane Johns of
Spanaway; and stepsons Michael
J. Knox of Puyallup and Mark S.
Knox of Weimar, California.
Also surviving are sisters
Eleanor Kubo and Miyuki Naka-
no, both of Palo Alto, California,
and Hisaye Shiki of Ogden, Utah;
24 grandchildren, 25 great—grand-
children and numerous nieces
and nephews.
Nu services will be held. Mr.
Nakamura's remains will be cre-
mated.
