The dresses were fin- ished for my nieces wedding with a full ½ hour to spare. The rest of summer was spent trying to beat the heat, and what better place to find air conditioning than the library. You might remember my worst nightmare when my main computer, the external hard-drive and my lap top all died within two weeks. To my horror the complete backup included my folders, just not the contents of the folders. I lost all of the family research data in one fell swoop. Lost also was all the e-mail cor- respondence, copies of my letters to others, my census maps that were scanned and custom- ized with family loca- tions and dates. While in the process of re- entering all of the data, I found a lady of inter- est. Family says she was teaching in Chi- cago in 1871. The fam- ily never heard from her since that fateful October 9th date. I want to find out if she was one of the fatal victims of ―the great conflagra- tion‖ or just moved on and never contacted the family again. I also hope my story will remind everyone, don‘t assume you have a valid backup – check it out! Can you access your backed up infor- mation? Volume 1, Issue 1 What Happened to Summer?
