Mrs. Elizabeth M. Jochmus, 81,
mother of Secretary A. C. Jochmus of
the Pacific Grove Chamber of Com-
merce,died early today at her home,
405 Gibson avenue, after a short ill-
ness.
Her death was a shock to a wide
circle of friends in Pacific Grove,
where she had lived for 20 years.
Widow of the late Colonel Chas.
A. Jochmus, who served with General
Crook in the Indian wars of the
early, days on the frontier, Mrs. Joch-
mus was a real pioneer. She lived
for some time at Fort Laramle, Wy-
oming, while ·her husband was Sta-
tioned at that famous outpost on the
Overland trail in covered wagon

Besides her son here she leaves a
daughter, Mrs. Annie L. Vic Roy, of
Greeley, Colo.; a sistqr, Mrs. William
Keightley, of Pueblo, Colo.; and a

Two well known Monterey Penin-
sub men are recovering in the Mur-
phy Hospital, Salinas, today from in-
juries received late yesterday when
an auto in which they were riding
turned over after failing to make a
sharp turn on Monterey-Salinas
highway near Hilltown bridge.
TWO INJURED
The injured tare:,
ELMER G. UZZELL, 38, of Car-
mel, deep scalp wound, Iacerations
of left shin.
C. V. SANDELL, 31, 260 Anita
street, Monterey, body bruises and
severe shock.
Uzzell was the driver of the car.
Sandell was a passenger.
