David Eager
David W. “Shorty” Eager died
on February 84 He was 65.
He was born in the Skokomish
Valley on April 15, 1930 to John
W. and Violet Kelly Eager. He
graduated from Shelton High
School and attended Washington
State College in Bellingham.
Mr. Eager served in the US.
Air Force during World War 11‘
He was honorably discharged in
January of 1955.
He was married to the former
’JofiMiriam Phillips of Yelm
on April 7, 1956. They took up
residence in Tacoma.
After graduating from Bates
Technical College, Mr. Eager
found work as an appliance ref
pairman for the city of Tacoma,
where he was known for his good
humor and practical jokes. He
was dubbed “No Profit Dave” by
coworkers who admired his fair
and caring attitude toward his
customers, He retired from the
city in July of 1991 after 30 years
of service.
Mr. Eager was an avid boater
and a member of the Tacoma Elks
Lodge and the Tacoma Eagles
Lodge. He loved to sing and had a
weak spot for stray animals. He
surrounded his family with pets.
Survivors include his wife,
Joanne Eager; his sons, David
Eager Jr. and Kevin Eager; his
son and daughter-imlaw, Mark
and Kristi Eager; his daughter,
Debie Bjork; his daughter and
son-in»law, Wendy and Gary
Koessler; his grandchildren,
Gretchen and Kelly Bjork; his
brother, Robert Eager; his broth-
er and sister-in-law, John and
Betty Eager; his sisters and
brothers—in-law, Mary and Bill
Smith, Violet and Percy Knox and
Sybil and Robert Wootan; and
many nieces, nephews and
friends.
Memorial services were held
February 13 at Mountain View
Garden Chapel. Arrangements
were by Mountain Funeral Home.
