A Brief History of the Development of
FOREST HILL MANOR
1976 - New washer and drYer given by Residents
Association. New lighting in West Wing halls.
West Wing heating system rebuilt. New lighting
to be installed in library.
As of November 21, 1976, Forest Hill Manor has
served 358 residents. There are 132 currently
under contract. Thirteen of these are living
at PGCH.

Over the years, the assetig of the Manor have
grown from the original price of the Hotel -
13.91, 177 - to approximately $2 ifillion. ; A
very large portion of this increase has re-
sulted from gifts and bequests of its residents.
It is the love and affection evidenced by this
generosity that has made the Manor such a warm
and delightful HOME:
SPRING 1954 - Board* of Hospitals and Homes of
the California-Nevada Methodist Conference,
under the direction of Dr. D. Clifford
Crummey, began informal planning for "de-
velopment of a home for Aged 4persong'within
the bounds of the Conference". The Forest
Hill Hotel in Pacific Grove became available,
was investigated and approved as a retire-
ment residence.

JUNE 1954 - The California-Nevada Annual Con-
ference of the Methodist Church authorized
the formation of a corporation "for the
purpose of owning and operating one or more
homes for the Aged".
Five administrators have served the Manor in
its twenty-one years:
JULY 1954 - Use permit granted by the City of
Pacific Grove and purchase consummated.

Floyd L. Marchant
Mrs. Evelyn Miller
Gilbert D. Preston, Jr.
September 30, 1954 - Article* of Incorporation
were registered and the officers of the new
corporation took over responsibilities of
the proposed Forest Hill Manor.

Frank I. Cockrell, reported for duty,
