Alice Swimz Palmer, 92, Shelton, died
Wednesday, Jan, l. 1992, in Shelton.
She was born March 26. 1899, in
Moscow, Idaho.
She grew up and attended high
school in Oregon, living primarily in
Fenland.
She attended Washington State Col.
lege ln Pullman and worked lor Western
Union in Fenland during World War |.
On Chrlslmas Day 1920, she was
married to Donovan Palmer. The couple
lived in Fenland and Ashland. Ore, Ho»
qulam and Shellon. moving there in
1936, Mr. Palmer died in ‘972.
Mrs, Palmer was a homemaker.
She a member ol the Order of Eastern
Star, the Shelton Garden Club and was
an active member ol the United Method-
ist Church, Shelton. She was a church
organist, pianist, accompanist, plane
teacher, vocal soloist and choir member,
lrl 1941, she formed the Shelton Music
Club. She was a lifelong member of the
Washington State Federation at Music
Clubs and sewed as its president. She
enioyed composing music. both vocal
and piano, and perlormed locally. One
composition, “Gypsy Fantasy," with
music by Mrs. Palmer and libretto by
Pauline Barrorn, was perrormed under
the sponsorship of the Shelton Arts
CommiSSlon in August 1991.
She composed poetry, some of which
was published She also did oil painting
on black and white portraits lor Dean's
Studio lol many’years,
Surviving Mrs Palmer are three sons,
, Shelton, Phillip D. Ponce,
and V. Dale Palmer, Al-
tadena, Calm: also live grandsons, three
granddaughters and a great-
granddaughter.
A memorial service for Mrs. Palmer will
begin at 10 am. Monday, Jan. 6, in the
United Methodist Church. Shelton. The
Rev. Steve Schroeder will ofliciate. R
urnment will be ln Shelton Memorial
Park.
