employee Robert J, Kangas died
of natural causes on Monday, Au-
gust 22, at Mason General Hospi-
tal. He was 77
and lived in
Shelton for 53
years.
He was born
on September 6,
1927 in lshpem-
ing, Michigan, to
John and Agnes
(Kaijala) Kan~
gas.

US, Army in Out“
tober 1945 and Robert J.
was honorably Kangas
discharged in
July 1952‘ He was awarded the
World War II Victory Medal and
was a corporal 13-4 at the time of
his discharge.
He married Helen Olson on Oc-
tober 12, 1951 in Ishpeming. She
preceded him in death on August
2, 1984.
He retired from Simpson Tim-
ber Company,
Watching sports, especially
baseball, was one of his interests.
His favorite teams included the
Atlanta Braves, and teams of the
University of Michigan and the
University of Washington,
He was a member ofAlcoholics
Anonymous and was proud of his
16 years of sobriety.
Also preceding him in death
were daughter Ann Kangas, son
Kevin Kangas, grandson Jacob
Kangas, and brother David Kan~
gas.
Surviving are son Brian Kan-
gas and his wife Lesleann ofShel»
ton; brothers Tom Kangas and his
Wife Jane of Bremenon, and Paul
Kangas and his wife Judy of She]-
ton; sister Mary Ellen Fuller and
her husband Arlen of Olympia;
grandchildren Mara Pacheco and
her husband Raul, and Damon
and Garrick Saunders, all of Shel-
ton; great-grandchildren Reyna,
Adriana and Liliana Pacheco; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
At Mr. Kangas’ request, no ser-
vices will be held, He was buried
at Shelton Memorial Park with
his late wife and children,

made to Renovation of Callanan
