Takes Life of
lost lake Man
John Makoviney, 45, of El-
ma, was killed by an explo-
sion of dynamite Monday near
Lost Lake.
Mr. Makoviney had lived on the
Lost Lake route, Elma, for 10
years, and was employed by the
Shafer brothers logging company
of Aberdeen.
His body was discovered when
he failed to report back to camp
for work Tuesday alter leaving
there about 9:30 Monday morning.
HE WAS WORKING on a right
of way, blasting stumps, when he
apparently was caught by a de-
layed explosion. He was working
out of Shafer’s Camp 35, about 7
miles from Aberdeen on the West-
port road.
Mr. Makoviney was born Octo-
ber 4, 1902, in Montana, and is
survived by his wife, Gazelle,
five children, Margaret, Rose- ‘
mary, Donald, Edward and John,
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Makoviney, Sn, and his brother,
Julius, of Youngstown, Ohio.
The body was taken to Aber-
deen following the accident, and
Iater‘ brought to Shelton where
funeral services will be held under
the direction of Witsiers funeral
home.
