Janet was born on
May 22, 1951 in Sno-
qualmie, WA and died
suddenly in the early
morning on January 31,
2017.
Janet grew up in Fir-
crest, WA and graduated
from Wilson High School
in Tacoma in 1969. She
lived in Seattle before
buying a house in Me-
dina, WA and working
for the City of Bellevue.
In 1994, Janet made ar-
rangements with her fa-
ther to build a house on
her lot on Mason Lake
in Grapeview, WA next
to her parent’s summer
lake cabin. She loved
living at “the lake” and
resided there until her
death.
Upon moving to
Mason Lake, Janet ob-
tained her Bachelor’s
degree and Masters of
Education and began
working in the Head
Start program and later
teaching in elementary
school. She was also a
foster parent for many
years and volunteered
her time for many com-
munity organizations
including Northwest
Children’s Outreach and
Waterfest. Janet was
also active in the Mason
Benson Center, an or—
ganization that serves
the homeowners of the
Mason Lake and Benson
Lake area, and for which
she served as secretary
for many years.
She is survived by
her mother, Mary L.
Long of Tacoma, and
five siblings: Jerry
ng of Hawaii;
John (Jan
University Pla
WA;
Dan (Doralyn) Lonng
Gig Harbor, WA; Donna
Jackson of Florida; and
Julie Borgen of Tacoma,
WA. Janet was preced-
ed in death by her sister,
Katherine Long, and
her father, George Long.

nieces and nephews"
