Peter V5 ‘cf DD Belfair resident Peter Veich died of natural causes at his home May 13. He was 70, Mr Veich was born February 20, 1930 in Milwaukee, Wiscon— sin, to Christ and Catherine (Mikulicb) Veichi He grew up in Pembine, Wisconsin, and attend- ed Pembine High School On September 8, 1956, he mar- ried Margaret M. Baxter in Pem- bins. He served in the US Navy from 1948 to 1957, He served on board the USS Bayfield, USS Sullivan's, USS Obert and USS Blandy before entering the Air Force in 1957. He was stationed at Wurtsmith Air Force Base in 0coda, Michigan; Air Station Wakkanai in Japan and McCon~ nell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas, before retiring in 1970. More recently, he was a utility specialist at Sub Base Bangor from 1973 until his retirement in 1985‘ He was a life member of Veter- ans of Foreign Wars Post 239 in Bremerton, a member of the In- ternational Association of Ma- chinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMA), and a member of Prince of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Belfairi Surviving him are his wife, Margaret M‘ Veich of Belfair; a son, Peter J. Veich of Belfair; a daughter, Chris Souder of West Linn, Oregon; a brother, Nicholas Veich of Port Orchard; and grand- children Kyle aud Bryan Souder of West Linn, He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Mon- roe, in 1987, and a brother, Jo- seph Veich, in 1965, Inurument was at Miller- Woodlawn Memorial Park. Me- morial services will be held at noon, Friday, May 26, at the Sub Base Bangor Chapel Access to the base is restricted except for Navy personnel.
