He was born ‘ December 7, 1917 in Bemidji, Minnesota, to Lewis Walter and Alberta (Woods) Ben- nington. He served in the Army from September 1940 to August 1963 and had achieved Claude F. the rank of major Bennington at the time of his retirement. , He married Ann Sprague Ben- nington on March 22, 1944 in Ka- lamazoo, Michigan. Major Bennington was a mem- ber of the Shelton Rifle and Pistol Club. He received the Distin~ guished Pistol Badge from the All Army Pistol Club at Camp Perry, Ohio, in 1960. The badge was pre~ sented to him at Fort Lewis. He taught first aid classes for the American Red Cross. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. Survivors include his wife, Ann Bennington of Shelton; daughter Marilyn Kinney of Yelm; son Claude F. Bennington Jr. of Shel- ton; and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
