Families lined up outside of
the Lake Stevens Boys & Girls
Club on Saturday, August 29
for the Lake Stevens Family
Center’s Back-to-School back-
pack giveaway.
Over 400 backpacks and ad-
ditional school supplies were
donated to ensure that local
kids start the school year right.
“The 400 backpacks were do-
nated by the community,” Julie
Senechal of the Lake Stevens
Family Center said. “Over 180
pairs of shoes were also donat-
ed by Windermere Real Estate
in Lake Stevens.”
Lake Stevens Fire, Lake Ste-
vens Police, Coe Vision and Ev-
ergreen Beauty were also there
helping families in need get their
kids ready for school which
starts Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Residents of Ashley Pointe
Senior Living volunteered
their time as well, helping fam-
ilies gather school supplies.
This year the Family Center
was able to help 50 additional
kids prepare to go back to school
because of the support of the
community in donating addi-
tional backpacks and supplies.
