SMITH.-Iames Smith was born and raised in the northern part
4 Of Ireland. In 1783 he emigrated to America and settled in
2 }terks county, Pa., where he married Jane Blakey, and removed
to Madison county, Ky. Their children were-John, William,
Polly, Elizabeth, Patsey, James, and David. John married
i Nancy Fowler, and died in 1857, leaving a widow and two chil-
5 dren. 3¥illiam was born in Kentucky, in 1794, and was married -
in 1824 to Martha MeMichel, daughter of John MeMichel, of S .
Louis county, Mo., by whom he had-James B., John M., Benja-
2 min, William H., Oliver P., Warren Al, Josephine, Martha O.,
-0-- 5nd Fielding W. Mr. Smith represented Boone county in the
p Legislature one term. Polly, daughter of James Smith, br.,
i. 9¥ried Henry Anderson, who died without issue. She is now
living in Boone county, a widow. Elizabeth married John Mc-
L - clip, of Cooper county, and died without issue. Patsey mar-
7 led Thomas Taylor, who settled in Boone county in 1828. They
ooth died, leaving four sons and two daughters. James, Jr.,
married Nancy Howard, of Kentucky, and settled in Howard
