Tactica7 Air Ranges Integration Facility
(TARIF) will soon be on line; supponing
Navy Tactical Aircrew Combat Training Sys·
tem (TACTS) ranges worId·wide.
TACTS is an extteme7y sophisticaled com-
bat aircrew ttaining system capable of sup-
porting all forms of Navy IIId MariDe Caps
air combat bBining. In point of fact. TACTS
(and TARIF) is the techn070gica7 beart of
Navy anack avialion bBining program. It has
also been described as the biggest and best
electronic bBining system evercreaaed.
Currently; changes or improvements to
eitber tbe software or harcIwwe at these nmges
requiR shuuing tbem down for exlelldecl peri-
ods of time. TARIF will chmge all that. Modi-
fICations can be developed. integraied and
tes1ed first at TARlF. then insta17ed at the
opcraIion site with a minimal down time. By
establishing a separate integration capability
at NWC. tbe pressure is Iaken off optIlIIiona1
ranges, whose only involvement becomes tbe
fmal acceptance.tests. A major portion of
TARIF RSpODSibilities will be integrating new
software and Iadware inlD these ranges.
