Hi Steve. I spent some time at the Barn today researching this address. Part of the time was wading through
the PC (versus an Apple) and I never could make the screenshot work (despite Michael's instructions to me
about it in the past). Nevertheless, I WAS successful logging in and getting to the proper website and also the
P drive.
Please see attached picture (from Redfin) and the plaque request.
In Don Howard I found it was in Block 25, first Addition, Lot 12 (in another source [see below] it indicates part of
the garage belonged to Lot 16. As of 1928 the property was owned by Eva L. Preston and Harold O. Preston
(1928 Block Files) with a date 6/5/1926 (Comment: was this when they purchased it?). See attached diagram
from the APN file (APN 006 274 004 000). According to the Howard record the "deed" was dated 9/3/1910 but
it was unclear if this was with the Prestons. The diagram shows the house and a garage. It indicates that, in
1928, the house was 18 years old, suggesting construction in 1909 or 1910 but I could not find any information
about prior owners. When assessed in March 1928, it was one story, four rooms and a garage. It was wood
frame with rustic siding and a shallow masony foundation. The roof was shingled with an abbreviation HI.
Exterior was plain ornmental wood trim.
In 2018/9 the house was taken off the HRI as "no historic integrity."
I would decline a plaque because the house does not appear to be anything like the original and the tacked on
second story destroys the historic character.
While I was upstairs I noticed that Mr. Bourke and Mr. Peake have name tags in their boxes that are
magnetized. I still have the "pin" name tag so do not wear it when at the barn. I would appreciate if you could
order me a magnetized one.
Many thanks.
