Del Monte Hotel in a private car and visited the old town (Monterey) and Pa-
cific Grove. Shewalked from the Grove to the Del Monte which is about 4
miles." (Note: The "car" referred to was an opulent parlor car presentedto
the English actressby an admirer. Lillie Langtry was here on one of her first
Americantours.)
