been used as a boarding house of late and most recently was a

'"Many, many people were asking: 'What became of Judge
jorgenson's old home?' and Mr. Ryan and I were surprised to
see it being put into use again on Junipero Street. Recently
many children have been playing in the yard and that would
please the judge who was very fond of children.
"I knew instinctively that it was a home of some kind.
As I was clearing out our own children's playhouse, we took
some of the old games, blackboard, etc., and offered them for
the use of the children at the house. It is now a private foster
home for retarded children, run by a youngish couple who are
not blessed with children of their own.
"So our friends are very glad to know about it and we hope
they succeed and will accept a few donations if they come
along."
While infirmity and arthritis have slowed Carrie Georgina
down a bit, she is still interested in children, her own and
others. While she continues a flow of correspondence with
many relatives whom she hasn't seen for years, Mrs. Ryan
pursues another interest-that of oil painting.
Together, though, they watch the passing scene in Pacific
Grove, comparing the new developments with the old "tent
city" they knew in younger days. 11
