Yes, we have once
again come to that time
of year. During the next
month of family and
holiday gatherings take
the time to figure out
where you want to go
with your family re-
search during the next
year.
Now, I’m not one for
New Year Resolutions.
They really aren’t worth
the bother of thinking
upon. They are too
easily put aside.
I mean what is your
aim. What is the drive
for your research this
coming year? Is there
something (or some-
one) that you really
want to learn more
about? Is there a new
style of research that
you want to learn?
How about nothing with
research, but all to do
with organization? Are
you going to finally en-
ter your information
into a computer pro-
gram? All I can sug-
gest if this is your goal,
organize your papers
before you start and
have a how-to source
book beside you.
Maybe your goal can
be interviewing a few
relatives during the
coming year, or prepar-
ing a scrapbook/photo
album for your chil-
dren. It is always a
good time to share
your families history.
The new year is a
great time to set your
goal—it’s easy to re-
member the goal dead-
line!

Family Gathering Fun
. The holidays are a
time for families to
gather. While everyone
is around—ask some
questions.
No long lists, just a
few that don’t take a
long time to answer.
Maybe just a 1/4 sheet
of paper with one
question and place for
the date and name. Let
everyone have a
chance to answer and
then set aside time to
read through the an-
swers. You could have
different questions on
the papers.
Let children and
adults enjoy the sto-
ries.
