The Heritage Society of Pacific Grove is a nonprofit organization formed in 1975 to foster an appreciation of the city’s historical
and architectural resources through preservation activities and public education. The Heritage Society also works to encourage
the preservation and restoration of the buildings that contribute to the beauty and unique character of Pacific Grove.
Kent Seavey to Speak at Heritage House
Awards Ceremony on May 26
How many of you even know there is an old tea house hidden in the dunes
near Asilomar? Local historical consultant and author Kent Seavey will give
a short presentation about the Hanna Chinese Tea House on Calle Corte in
Pacific Grove. He will show photos of this historic building and tell stories
of its origin and use. It was constructed in 1925-1926, and is now undergoing
a complete rehabilitation. The Heritage Society welcomes you to hear Mr.
Seavey speak. There is no admission fee.
Annual Heritage House Awards Ceremony
The Heritage Society invites you to attend the annual Heritage House Awards
Ceremony on Sunday, May 26, at 2 p.m. at Chautauqua Hall, corner of 16th
and Central. Seven houses have been selected by a panel of judges to receive
awards. Categories this year include Preservation, Remodel/Addition, and
ADU. Owners, contractors, and architects will be speaking about the process,
which may provide helpful hints for anyone planning to build or remodel in
the future. Kent Seavey will also give a short presentation. Please join us for
an interesting afternoon. The public is invited to attend.
