Tony Hempel was born just after thisVcabin burned May 19,1899. and in the
spring a large log house was put up, and was still standing when Mother
sold to the Gold Basin Logging and shingle mill which was just across the
Railroad tracks, and theJuvinile //// fishing pond was dug out to retain the
logs until used in the mill.

••Mother Minnie Rohde went to Gold Basin with her parents the Carl Rohdes in
•••1393, their homestead was -at the extreme upper end of the present camp ground.
••Mother was Post Mistress for 13 years, the last building was just 50 feet from
nailed to a board
