Henry Blake
Memorial services will be held
Friday for Henry Harlan Blake of
Shelton. He died July 10 at Mason
General Hospital. He was 75.
Mr. Blake was born in Clifton,
West Virginia, on September 12,
1916. He was a veteran of World
War 11, having served eight years
in the US. Navy aboard the [1.5.3.
Honolulu, the USS. Indianapolis
and ISM 177. He was selected as
the “typical bluejacket” of the
Pacific Fleet and his image was
used on Navy recruiting posters.
\ He was a member of the Seattle
y and Olympic chapters of the Pearl
\( Harbor Survivors Association. He
‘ was a member of the National
Association of Chief Petty Officers
and the American Legion. He was
Past Master of Union City Lodge
‘ 27 F&AM. He was a Rainbow Dad
V for two years during the 19605.
In 1978 Mr. Blake retired from
‘ Hood Canal School District 404,
where he had been employed as
custodian and bus driver. He lived
in Union for 43 years before mov-
ing to Shelton two years ago.
Survivors include his wife,
) Lucille Blake, of Shelton; his
“5 daughters, Patty Lane of Kenne-
Q‘ wick, and Janice Haigh of Juneau,
Q Alaska; his brothers Robert Blake
of Shelton and Ralph Blake of
Athens, Ohio; his sisters, Virginia
Kerwood of Columbus, Ohio, Ruby
Barch of Lockboume, Ohio, Gene-
vieve Garland of DeKalb, Illinois,
and Marjorie Johanningsmeier of
\n Hinkley, Illinois; four grandchil-
\ dren, one great-grandson and
numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are sched-
uled to begin at 2 p.m. on July 17 at
the Masonic Temple by Union City
Lodge 27 F&AM, North 19342
