679, a retired librarian, died
April 7 attheHospice House.
: She was born July 23, 1922,
in San Francisco and lived in
Pacific Grove for more than
50 years.
Ms. Davis served in the
U.S. Coast Guard during
World War II. She received a
bachelor of arts degree in
library science from the
University of Chicago and
was a librarian for 35 years.
She was an avid oil painter
and gardener. Ms. Davis was
a member of the California
J Historical Society and had an
interest in the architectural
history of Monterey County.
, She was an active member of
the Pacific Grove Historical
Society and assisted in the
publishing of its monthly
newsletter.
She is survived by one
brother, Milton S. Davis of
Kentfield; numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins. She
was preceded in death by her
sister, Betty Phillips.
A celebration of her life will
be held at 10 am Saturday
at the Little Chapel
by-the-Sea. Her ashes will be
scattered at sea. The Paul
Mortuary is in charge of
airailgements.
The family suggests that
any memorial contributions
be made to the Heritage
Society of Pacific Grove, P.O.
Box 1007, Pacific Grove
