Ernestine Oakes Ernestine Oakes, a longtime Shelton resident, died of natural causes on Wednesday, May 18, at Capital Medical Center in Olym- pia, She was 78 and lived in Shel- ton 70 years. She was born J anuary 2 5, 1927 in Warren, Arizona, to Er- nest and Frances J. (Wright) Cole. She married . James Henry ‘ Oakes on May 1, 1954 in Ho- quiam. Mrs. Oakes was a caregiver and cook for the Ernestine Exceptional For- Oakes esters, Incorpo- rated for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, cook- ing, fishing, reading romance sto— ries and playing bingo. She was a member of the Shelton Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. Preceding her in death were husband James Oakes; brother Bud Cole; sister Cora Deffin- baugh; and mother Susie Colel Surviving are sons James E. Oakes and Kenneth W. Oakes of Shelton and Paul L. Oakes of Bremerton; daughter Jenny L. Oakcs ofPort Orchard; grandchil- dren Kayla Oakes, Taylor»Ann Oakes, Douglas Oakes, Jimmy Oakes, Cody Oakes, Jesse Munch, Scott Munch, Darci Ward and Malena Valimont; great— grandchild Kennadi Mae Ward; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins A memorial service was held Monday, May 23, at Hope Chapel in Shelton. Pastor Ken Nielsen of- ficiated. Inurnment was at Shel- ton Memorial Park, Memorial donations may be made‘ to Korean Women’s Asso- ciation, 1131 East Shelton Springs Road, Shelton.
