She was born Edna Adina Er- ickson to Swedish emigrants, Au» gust and Sarah Danielson Erick- son, on June 21, 1904. Her par- ents came to the Washington Ter- ritory in 1889. They brought up six children, Edna being the old- est girl. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1922 and later graduated from the Swedish Hos- pital School of Nursing in 1926. This year marks her 70th year as a graduate of the Swedish Hospi- tal. In 1927 she came to Shelton to fill in for a nurse on vacation at the old Shelton General Hospitall This venture made her a Shelton resident the rest of her life. Dur- ing her years at the old Shelton General Hospital she worked with many Swedish Hospital graduates she knew in Seattle, including Dorcas Meyers Smith, Anvina Needham Hays and Elinor Woodward Snelgrove, who TFF‘Were long-time Shelton residents. In the 1930s she worked mainly as a special nurse at Shelton Gen- eral Hospital. On October 3, 1931 she mar» ried Lloyd Loughnan, who came to Shelton in 1921 to haul logs. They brought up two children. In 1942 she went to work for Dr. GA. LeCompte as his office nurse and bookkeeper. This office was upstairs in the Angle Building where she worked until she closed it for the doctor on February 11, 1966. She gave many immuniza- tion shots to children growing up in Mason County. The office of Dr. LeCompte was then moved to a new building at 310 West Birch Street, the same block where she began work at Shelton General Hospital. After Dr. LeCompte retired, Mrs. Loughnan worked part time in the same office for Dr. Carte until she retired in 1972. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, on August 29, 1987. Her son, Stuart, has lived with her since that time in her home at 910 West Birch Street, where the family moved on June 9, 1993. Her daughter, Aylene Bluechel Yonce, resides in Lilliwaup. She is also survived by one brother, Lorimer Erickson of Sequim and his wife, Helen; one sister, June Osterud of Seattle; 11 nieces and nephews; and four grandchildren, Gordon Bluechel and family of Redmond, Turner Bluechel and his Wife, Liz, of Seattle, Blaine Howard of Arling- ton and Erica Hohl and family of Kennewick; and two great—grand children. She was a member of Swedish Baptist Church in Seattle, 21 member of the United Methodist Church in Shelton and a member of the Republican Party. The family said she will be re- membered for her wit, wonderful food and her soft, caring nature. Dr. Ludvig Eskildsen and the Reverend Steve Schroeder will of ficiate at a memorial service scheduled for February 6 at 1 pm. at the United Methodist Church.
