RE: Address: 211 Alden Harry Carpenter Shirk
Mermaid; Anna E. (Flyte) Rising
Please accept my apology for the delay in responding to your request.
I am enclosing copies ofthe Sanborn Maps for 1914 and 1926. There definitely are houses at 211 & 215
Alder. I have researched the County Assessor tax files for the years 1918, 1920, 1925 and 1926 and
unfortunately did not find the name Shirk as someone who paid property taxes in Pacific Grove. For
informational purposes only, I have enclosed the ownership information for 215 Alder since that data had
been compiled.
As for your great grandmother, Anna E. (Flyte) Rising - I did not find her name. I did however find in
the 1926 Polk Directory for Pacific Grove, 2 other fhmilies with the last name Rising. Bertha had a home
at 702 Mermaid; Leonard & Henrietta lived as 420 Sinex A copy ofthe directory page is enclosed.
