I'm doing just fine. My cancer seems to be in full remission. Regarding your questions: 1) The newer bronze oval, and older, larger "Heritage House " plaques are awarded once a year as a result of our Heritage Awards. The criteria varies based on the award. There will be relatively few of these. 2)Ineedtocheckonthe3105thdateissue.I'llgetbacktoyouonthislater./.57-;'6-6,1'6,14-co 3) As long as I have been doing the plaques, since 1982, the name on the plague is exactly as listed in the Monterey County Tax Assessor books for that year. A title, such as Dr.or Rev., would be used only if it were also used in the tax books. There are only one or two of these, and none say Mayor. 4) Only the owner, or current resident with the owner's permission, can request a plague. 1 usually replace a plague if I find one in error, but usually when the plague ages or deteriorates. I hope the above helps you. I'll respond again when I research the McFarland data. If the tax book says 1900, it would depend on what you have that indicates 1898. The objective is to have the correct date supported by some valid documentation, usually the tax books. The plague actually shows the date of the first assessment, and the documentation sent to the owner specifies this fact. The assessors came around in March. If the house construction was started in April or later, the plague would have the following year. We do this to be consistent. But we do use the earlier date if there is something ( a dated newspaper clipping, a fully dated letter, etc) that we can have as proof of the date. ttlt-49 %-8 D.E. 01- C Fist.g Adam I ti- c L " -- P'- cc_ * C- -----Original Message----- From: Dex Rivett [mailto: ] Sent: Thursday, March 15, 2001 11:01 PM To: Adam Weiland Subject: Signs Hi Adam, Ginger and I spent last week in PG (in the brown, shingle, old lady on the southwest corner of Carmel and Ocean View.) 1 noticed as we wandered around town that some of the Heritage Houses have an additional, triangular shaped sign reading, "Pacific Grove Heritage House." Or is it the plan to add those signs to all of the present signs showing original owner's name and year of occupancy? I have documentation showing the first occupancy of the McFarland house at 310-5th was 1898. The current sign says "1900." What documentation would be accepted as valid so that the date on the sign can be corrected? The Board and Batten's October/November 1996 issue used the "1898" figure. Do any of the present signs include "Dr," "Rev," "Mayor" or other titles? 3/19/01 I , OCR Text: , Page 1 of 2 Adam Weiland From: Adam Weiland Sent: Monday, March 19,2001 2:06 PM To: 'Dex Rivett' Subject: RE: Signs Hi Dex, Good to hear from you.
