BLOCK 51 LOTS 3,4 PACIFIC GROVE RETREAT
Rufus N. Howes purchased lots 3 and 4 of block 51 and
built 625 Ocenview (625 Jewell) on lot 3 in 1890 and also
built 106 17th Street on the rear portion of lot 4 in 1890.
The 1892 map shows a tent on the front portion of lot 4. The
1897 map shows nothing on the front portion of lot 4. It
wasn't until 1905 that a house, 621 Oceanview (621 Jewell),
was built on the front portion of lot 4.
