Since its inception, the Highland Inn has been the
honeymoon paradise of the West. Then the Chapel-in-the-
Pines became a reality (built in 1952 by Charles Reed, the
manager of the Inn), and became the scene of over 10
thousand weddings.
As the years passed the traditional weddings in the chapel
continued buttherewerealsomanygarden weddings-the
outdoor scene, close to nature was the demand. And,that is
how the idea for the gazebo was born.
Since May there have beenover30 weddings-several so
private that there were only two guests. Another had over
200 inattendance. Some were formal, othersinformal. Some
with only the sound of the sea and the breeze in the trees,
others had the music of their choice: flutists, guitarists,
balalaika players, a harpist, and of course, vocalists.
Like one said, "As our two hands met our hearts joined
together in a specially chosen place setapart from the world
around us." 00
