Grace Theresa Yarr-Nash
Grace Theresa Yarr-Nash, 82, left this world peacefully April 1. 2007, at
Swedish Hospital in Seattle. Family and friends surrounded her. A funeral
Mass was held Wednesday at St. James Cathedral in Seattle. The Rev. Michael
Ryan officiated. Pallbearers included George Nash, Bill LeDrew, Dan Morgan,
Mel Morgan Jr., Mark Morgan, Tucker Barksdale and Steve lager. She was
laid to rest at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, Shoreline, Wash,, next to her
beloved husband, George.
Grace was born June 3, 1924, in Seattle to Katherine and Daniel Yarr. She
was raised in Shelton. Washington, and graduated from Irene 5. Reed High
School. She married the love of her life, George Nash, on Dec. 20, 1952.
Grace was one of the early Alaskan Airline stewardesses and flew on the
airline's first scheduled
flight. She lost her husband in a plane crash in 1954. Grace never
remarried. After the birth of her son,
George, in 1954, she lived in Shelton and Seattle, then moved back to
Anchorage in 1966. She worked
for the Municipality of Anchorage in the prosecutor’s office until her
retirement.
Her family wrote, "We will always remember Grace with a smile. Through
her many hardships, her
cup was always half full. She was always the life of the party, with the
balance of unshakeable faith.
Once described as a cross between Carol Charming and Mother Theresa, she
was truly full of Love and
Laughter. We are blessed to have had her inspiration."
Grace is survived by her son, George J. Nash of Houston, Texas; sister.
Sally Morgan of Shelton, Wash;
sister-in-Iaw, Roxie Yarr of lndianola, Wash.; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband George; sister Marie Yarr-Sewell;
and brother. Daniel Yarr.
Grace supported many missionaries. and the family would like to ask that
any donations be directed
