Membership dues
September is our traditional time to collect dues. I’m not sure how the rest of you feel about them
but to me it’s a bargain. It’s right there with library cards. Since joining I’ve been able to polish and
organize my data, it might actually make sense to an outsider now. I’ve been able to expand
several of my families using tips from other members. Those tips have inevitably led me around or
through brick walls that had thwarted my efforts for years.
Our speakers have always provided useful information. At times it might not seem that way, but
down the road I’ve found myself saying, “he/she was right”.
Our very first seminar was great. The presentations were loaded with stuff, good stuff. Books. More
books then money in my wallet. Oh well. We also got to establish a relationship with the other
Mason County Gen group in Belfair.
Bottom line. $15.00 by itself isn’t much, but add those dues together and pretty soon we’re talking
superior speakers and presentations and more seminars for us to enjoy and learn from.
DNA Family Trees
For $99 Ancestry members can submit their DNA for testing. Afterwards Ancestry will
compare the results to their DNA databank of over 10,000 members. So what you might ask?
