Roberta LeCompte
Former Shelton resident Ro-
berta Gayle LeCompte died Sun-
day, July 22, at Grays Harbor
Community Hospital in Aber-
deen She was 78 and had been
an Aberdeen resident for the past
41 years
She was born September 4,
1922 in Port Angeles to Robert H.
and Dorothy (Guy) Williams, She
spent her early years in Port An-
geles and moved to Shelton in
1936. She graduated from Irene
5- Reed High School in Shelton in
1940.
She married Thomas Le-
Compte on December 15, 1942 in
Coronado, California.
During World War 11, Mrs. Le-
Compte worked for the Navy, lat-
er transferring to the Army base
at Fort Vancouver. She also
worked for Forbes Travel Service
and the Grays Harbor Chamber
of Commerce. She was also
church secretary for Saint An-
drew’s Episcopal Church in Aber-
deen.
In her youth, she hiked with
Shelton mountaineers and pho-
tographers Bob and Ira Spring in
the Olympic Mountains and re-
portedly was the first woman to
climb Mount Washington. In later
years, she enjoyed traveling to
Mexico and Alaska. She especial-
ly loved watching Mariner games,
playing cards and visiting with
her friends
She was a member of the Saint
Andrew’s Altar Guild and the
Children’s Orthopedic Guild.
Survivors include her husband
Thomas P. LeCornpte of Aher»
deen; her son Thomas P. Le-
Compte Jr. of Ketchikan, Alaska;
her daughters Annette Pinckney
of Aberdeen and Denise Robert-
son of Edmonds; four grandchil-
dren and two great-grandchil-
dren.
A memorial service will be held
at 1 pm. Thursday, July 26, at
Saint Andrew‘s Episcopal Church
in Aberdeen.
Memorial donations may be
made to Saint Andrew’s Church
Discretionary Fund, First and G
streets, Aberdeen 98520, or to the
donor’s favorite charity.
